Arno Melchior has more than 30 years’ experience in the Packaging industry. He started his career in automotive as a Mechanical Engineer at Opel in Germany. In 1988 he joined Merck as Packaging Project Manager. Later he worked for Reckitt & Colman in Germany and France as Packaging Manager. After the merger of R&C and Benckiser he was leading the Global Supply Chain Efficiency Program and since 2004 he has been the Global Packaging Director of Reckitt Benckiser in Slough, UK.
Denise Mathieson Technical Packaging Manager at Tesco for 6 years, with responsibility for all the Fresh food Categories.
My role is to support the implementation of the Tesco strategy, and working with the suppliers, develop new packaging innovation to fulfil the ambition of all own label packaging being recyclable by the end of the year.
We’ve spent the last 18 months, removing 660M pieces of pointless plastic with a total of 10,500 tonnes red materials removed to date.
I have been involved in print and packaging for more years than I care to remember.
Responsible for the Waitrose & Partners ambitious packaging strategy, that will see all own brand packaging to be either widely recycled, reusable or home compostable by 2023. In addition to this, responsible for the artwork & reprographics process drawing upon over 25 years in retail. Prior to entering the world of retail, I have worked with many brand owners and retailers as a supplier across all types of product, packaging, media and publications, this gives me broad knowledge within the industry and a unique understanding of what is required at each stage in the process. Also proud to be a founding Director of the OPRL, work closely with WRAP & UKPP and the retail representative for the ACP.
Scott is a leading Creative Design & Packaging expert with 20 years + experience in FMCG and has worked within a multitude of categories. As a specialist in his field, Scott fully understands design development, production & manufacturing and has been responsible for many Global design & innovation projects for various Companies with outstanding results.
Previously, the Global Head of Design at Novartis, Director of Design & Innovation within Amcor & Head of Design at PMI Scotts experience speaks for itself. Scott has a vast knowledge in product development & creative management having been privileged to work from both sides of the coin, Client & Agency. Within the luxury category, Scott has designed and produced many outstanding packaging projects which have won awards across the Globe.
Theodoros, following a rewarding career as a packaging engineer, and being a packaging aficionado, is now acting as an independent business and strategy consultant, focussed on packaging related challenges. His main focus is packaging strategy, supply chain management, process and operations enhancement, continuous improvement and quality, while he is also interested in the relationship dynamics between packaging and other areas of business. Constantly striving to expand his knowledge to better serve the industry he is committed to, his current research investigates the role of packaging in improving competitiveness. Theodoros holds a BSc in Business Management, an MSc in Operations and Logistics Management and is currently completing his MBA studies at University of Warwick. Theodoros is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt practitioner and has received training and practiced carrying out quality management system audits. Theodoros has been invited as a guest speaker on numerous occasions, is a long standing member of the CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) and is also a UK Packaging Awards judge for the last five years.
